Dental decay or old broken down fillings need to be replaced before they cause a problem- leaving this too long could lead to severe pain and eventual tooth loss. Dental restorative materials are used to fill cavities and treat tooth decay. During a filling, the decay or unsatisfactory old restoration is removed from the tooth and the cavity is reinforced with a composite resin restorative material.
